Non nobis Domine
Painter
October 2011

Hi guys,
this is the book cover of an Italian book called "Non nobis Domine".
It is an intriguing story of a strange diary, ancient mysteries and new revelations in which the story of each protagonist is wrapped around time and different locations in the world, through human history.
The title of the book is a part of the famous templar motto 'Non nobis Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam' (Not to us God, not to us, but to your name give glory). Templars are not the protagonist of the book but they story is connected with some events recounted in this adventure.

The two authors of the book asked me to create a image out of time in a strange land in which there are many of the places described in the book (Rome, Salomon temple, London, desert and so on...). They did not want a photorealistic picture but a kind of 'fairy tale' illustration with surreal colours. In the foreground I put two travellers that give to the observer the sensation to come from far away, after a long long trip across the time.

I used some references to reproduce some details of the monuments.
As usually it is totally made with Painter with my Wacom.

I am not specialized in landscape painting but I hope you like it anyway.
Please, let me know your impression.
